The correction of skin and stretch loosening after pregnancy or weight loss in the abdomen is accomplished by abdominoplasty.
This relaxation may be due to a large and abrupt increase in body weight, multiple pregnancies, postoperative relaxation of the abdominal muscles or acute trauma.
The surgery is done without necessarily applying general anaesthesia, with local anaesthesia in combination with dorsal anaesthesia. During surgery, the excess skin is removed and the navel is placed in the appropriate position. The incision is made at the lower abdominal height in adolescence.
There are two types of abdominoplasty the normal or the mini-abdominoplasty.
Their difference is that in mini-abdominoplasty, the navel is kept and the excess of skin is removed in the underbelly. While in normal the navel is cut and held at its stem and repositioned in its new position. The surgery is under general anaesthesia and requires to stay in the hospital for one day.
With proper design, this technique has excellent results.
